Finding and listings items the most basic thing you'll do on a daily basis - to add to your store items you want to sell.
Finding Items
Finding good items to sell in the Amazon-to-eBay dropshipping model require you to answer two main questions that may sound trivial, but they are not:
1. Which items will sell well in eBay? do not assume that items that sell well on Amazon will also sell well on eBay - they often target different audiences with different product preferences.
2. Which items will source well from Amazon? issues with order fulfillment or returns seriously risk your eBay store. Finding a product means also ensuring its supply chain.
Given the above, here are some best practices for finding products:
Best Practice | How to Enforce It |
Find your product based on target market data, and then find a matching source product |
Identify good items to sell in eBay: 1. Use Apps like ZIK analytics for searching things like eBay best-seller products/categories, or other dropshipping sellers and follow their products that sell well 2. Explore current trends on social media Use the item's title/description to find similar/related items on Amazon |
Avoid product categories that are considered less profitable (for example: books) - they will occupy listings in your stores with poor results | Use Apps like ZIK analytics for eBay market research. |
Avoid product categories that are not supported by eBay Non-API (for example: Car parts) - trying to list them will eventually fail by eBay | Learn such categories over time (you will get an error message while listing items, saying that the category is unsupported), and exclude them from your search |
Avoid non-returnable products in Amazon (like: food, fresh flowers, gift baskets, various liquids) that contradict your eBay Returns policy --- you won't be able to get refund for such products even if you refund your buyer | Get familiar with the Amazon non-returnable items list (that may change from time to time), and exclude them from your product search. |
Even if you think you found a good product to sell it can risk your store (for example: Nike products that only their approved sellers can sell) | Follow the listing best practice (below) and use Yaballe VeRO and Words Filters to protect your store from risky products that eBay won't like. |
Listing Items
Once you found items to list, list them using Yaballe in one of these ways:
1. List a single item at a time
If you fail to list item, see here how to troubleshoot and fix the problem.
Also, consider these best practices for listings items:
Best Practice | How to enforce it |
Don't list VeRO items or brands, it seriously risks your store | Set Yaballe's VeRO filter |
Don't use in your list title words that eBay doesn't like | Set Yaballe words filter |
List items only from reputable sellers who can deliver the products on time | Set Yaballe source filters |
Don't spend too much time on writing your own list title for new products - before it passed VeRO and words filter, and started to get traction | You can list items by specifying ASINs only - Yaballe will automatically pull from Amazon their source title/description, and clean it by the VeRO/Words filter you set. You can later edit and improve with keywords - for items that completed listing as they get traction |
You can improve the chances of an item to get traction by optimizing its price initially and as it lives in your store. Optimization is typically done based on the item's source price, age, or sales results. |
Form your pricing and profit strategies. To set listings' initial pricing - use one of these methods: 1. Automatically based on breakeven and profit default settings 2. Automatically based on profit-by-price-range settings (override the default breakeven & profit settings) 3. Specify per-list breakeven and profit when listing a new items (override default and price-by-range settings) To update existing listings' price - use one of these methods: 1. Update listings' breakeven and profit. 2. Set auto-rules: after-sale auto profit raise and unsold-items auto profit drop. |
Make sure you have enough limits in eBay to list more items, and that you indeed want to list more items (store risk wise, and store cost wise) |
Check your eBay store limits on a daily basis. If you reached the limit, you can ask eBay to increase it, but consider: 1. As suggested by the best practice guide for building stores - you may want to list up to 1,000 items max. |
